It's not listed on the website, so far as I can tell. 2pm as usual?

So do the current people running the convention think that word of mouth alone will keep this thing going strong?

It is a bit disappointing to see no action at all on these boards - people offering to help with fliers going unanswered. Simple questions pretty much ignored.

Being from the area - I will always plan on attending, but some effort needs to go into this I would think.

Well I havn't been a student at UT for some 3 years, So I'm outta the loop completely.
Some of the other regulars are in the same boat as me.
Those who are students probably aren't in our government, or in the BASHcon committee
Those who are don't come to the forums often enough or don't even care about the forums.

I'm just being honest, so don't shoot the messenger. I haven't even been able to go to BASHcon for the past couple years do to working and Financial constraints so don't go givin me crap about tellin the person as it is.

Was not shooting anybody - nor targeting anybody - just making a general statement is all

This is my first year as a BASH alumni.  Not in the organization anymore.

All I'll say is that I'm very disappointed with how things have been run this year.  I won't go into details, but I think the current BASH leadership has been shooting themselves in the foot from almost day one in planning for this BASHcon.

my bad, i just jumped to conclusions, It was early and I've had a bad weekend (very bad weekend).

Honestly from what I've seen of the officership of bash (which to say mostly invisible to the naked eye) i really don't know what they are planning to do. I've seen minimalistic attempts to do anything related to the convention, and a lot of people that I know are gettin really mad at some of the things (apparently the 40k players aren't gettin a room, but that is second hand+ knowledge)

I've been to a couple of BASHcons and they were fun as heck....the last one that I went to was meh....but then again i went on a sunday (the meh day)

if this trend keeps up BASHcon will probably not last to much longer.

I was not a member of BASH when I attended UT, but I have been attending BASH Con since 1990.

I am an outsider (to BASH at least), and I am seeing the lack of effort going into this year's event exactly as what you two are describing. I am glad both of you have at least jumped into the conversation - because the few of us that are looking at the forums are indeed seeing nothing.

Let's hope somebody wakes up soon.

I am an officer of UT BASH.

The officership consider the forums to be a way to get in touch with the membership. From what we can tell in the meetings there has been lack of interest in the forums. The 40k people have not contacted our coordinator but they do have a spot reserved for them. The best way to get your questions answered is to contact the coordinator at coordinator@bashcon.com.

Ben I cannot understand how you can make an evaluation of how BASHCon comittee is run this year without attending each of its meetings and only judging it through the forums.

I am sorry we neglect the forums. I will make sure it gets interest after BASHCon.

I think UT BASHCON has some serious marketing problems.

I can make an evaluation for the following reasons.

1: I have worked on the staffs of previous BASHcons.
2: I routinely speak with people who are involved with the preparations for BASHcon, and I have additional lines of communication to others (some of which are university-people, not BASH members).
3: I did attend early BASHcon meetings.  I stopped attending after I found that opinions that differed from those of the ruling clique this year were not welcome, even coming from those who had significant experience in running previous BASHcons.
4: I have been observing the (slow) progress of the BASHcon website.
5: I have traveled to the student union in general (and BASH office in particular) and made observations.

As a side-note, myself and others have spoken to the 40k people.  They've been trying to get in contact for quite a while.  Also, someone from the committee should have gone to contact them if there were communication problems.  All one has to do is visit the Game Room at a reasonable hour.

Final note:  You haven't answered the question that sparked this thread.  When is the Game Bazaar?

I still intend on attending, and I still hope to enjoy myself.  It's still BASHcon after all.  I'm just disappointed in how things are looking like they're shaping up.

Hmmm,

I am returning to BashCon for the first time in ... 10 years ...wow, its been awhile. I hope it is worth my drive from Detroit.

Truth be told, I help run a couple small conventions here. There is always too much to do, not enough people, and not enough interest (with all the kiddies playing internet games these days (myself included)).

I'm looking to come down, meet some nice people, have a day of fun playing games. Not rocket science. So here's to a great convention!
